This Saturday, November 19, 2022, from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM, the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge will hold a Sugar Cane Grinding and Syrup Boil exhibition at the Chesser Island Homestead. The Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge needs your help. The funding needed to manage and maintain water trails, camping platforms, forests, and wildlife populations as well as visitor services at the Refuge has decreased by 50% since 2008. The staff numbers have been slashed during that time due to this lack of funding and for the fist time in fifty years, the Refuge is operating without a full-time forester, among other key positions.

The Okefenokee needs your help to pressure Congress to fund the Refuge, so that future generations of Americans and people from around the world can continue to enjoy this intact natural and cultural treasure.
