The Okefenokee Wildlife League (OWL) was established in 1990 with the mission of supporting environmental education and interpretation at the refuge. In 2018, the OWL became publicly known as Friends of Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. The vision for Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge is to protect and enhance wildlife and its habitat, ensure integrity of the ecological system, and embrace the grandeur, mystery, and cultural heritage that leads to an enrichment of the human spirit. The Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge is a popular tourist destination and welcomes visitors from all 50 states and 30 countries each year!
